Due to their two-dimensional nature, solar cadasters are usually limited to the solar potential of roofs alone. Vertical surfaces, such as facades or balconies, are ignored.

Thanks to its 3D data sources along with 3D visualization, Shadowmap is able to show their solar potential as well. All while respecting potential shadowing by surrounding buildings and terrain.

Lightyear One solar car

One of our favorite utopian use cases: The solar car. Lightyear is working on one that can reach a maximum of 12 km/h. Not as a measure of top-speed but of recharging: through the Sun.

Sono Motors, another manufacturer, will release their first solar car in 2023. Shadowmap helps drivers of cars like these to find sunny parking spots and solar-efficient routes.
